Our MOOI project BRIMM focuses on innovative building components for fast and cost-efficient renovation of residential buildings to increase their energy-efficiency and sustainability without mayor occupant disturbance. Within the project we are developing retrofit window films to increase the energy-efficiency of already installed windows. Hereby we focus on two type of functionalities, as in low-emissivity, to reduce radiator heat loss through windows and enable lower U values, and solar infrared blocking, to reduce solar heat transmission and enable lower G values. This way the innovative retrofit window films reduce the energy consumption for HVAC systems in residential buildings by simple applying to existing windows. Together all BRIMM technologies will increase the renovation rate in the Netherlands and hereby reduce the energy consumption of the built environment. In this way, BRIMM makes a major contribution to the goal of an energy and climate-neutral built environment by 2050.
